I remember "Ruby and the Brau" (Fred Blaul) from the 1969 Cowboys basketball team.
I ran into Ruby by accident at Shea Stadium at a Cubs game in the summer of 1972 when we were both living in New York. (He was a student at Columbia and I was a summer intern at Met Life). Ruby was seated about 4 rows directly behind me. Imagine my surprise to hear him yell out "Hey,Gunner" and then turn around to see who it was.
I remember "Ruby Lips" in a couple of places in school.....we were together I believe as second stringers on the basketball team.........he had a quiet way about him......I also remember him in the clarinet section in the band....I somehow can see him teething the clarinet......Speaking of classmates who have died, I also remember seeing Mark Fischl with his shit eating grin getting ready to play the timpani or other percussive instruments.......I imagine Dan secretly enjoyed Mark's bravado when most of the rest of us lived in terror of differing with anybody.......Chuck Lederman
