I am so sorry to hear of Al's passing, and had hoped for him to make the 2009 reunion.  We were in Mr. Monaghan's Advisory at NTW, which was usually a zoo first thing in the AM.  Al, Giff Searls, Jeff Thalin and I also took my mom's car and drove out to Western Illinois University in Macomb for a tour, only to find the University closed for that big flu epidemic that hit in the late fall of '68 (I think).  The rest of the trip, though, was a riot.  I hope he was full of such memories.

Rest in Peace, Al.

I never hung out with Al in high school, but remember him as an excellent athlete and, more importantly, a really nice person.  He'll be missed by many.

Al was and will remain to be a big part of my life. Al was probably the best friend that I will ever know. We grew up together as I lived behind Al's parents house in Northfield. We were together from pre-kindergarten through high school and beyond, 'til I moved to Florida in 1977.
I have so many treasured memories.

To Al...I'm sure the Angels can use a great infielder and after so many years of being the lead-off batter, it looks like once again you are the first one to make it to home plate. I'll be there soon enough to bat cleanup for you.
...'til then I will miss you my friend.

I will continue to pray for you and the Savocchi family... that I can almost call my own.
Love, Hugs, and Prayers
for you all,
Jeff Thalin

So unbelievable.  We extend our sincere condolences to The family and wish them strength at this very difficult time.

Al played baseball at New Trier.  He was known for his quick bat and slick fielding.  He will be missed.

Al was a great guy. Iplayed soccer with him on the NTW team. As we say in Indiana, he was a real hoot.

He will be missed and my condolences to family and many friends.

I was another of Al's friends from St. Phillips.  I've been following his recent illness on Caring Bridges.  I probably can't make it back from California for the service on April 1, but my prayers and memories will be there for Al and all of his family and  many friends,

I'm gald he got to see the Cubs win it all,  I have found memories of watching the Cubs at his house on the family's color TV in the spring of 1964 when he went through an illness.

I was so sorry to hear about Al's passing.  My sincere condolances to all of his family and friends.  Al was one of my favorite friends from high school.  He made me laugh, he put up with my nonsense and he was front and center in many of my most warm memories of high school.  He was a great guy and a great friend.  Rest in peace.
